Swiss Army Knife Story by S. Aziz from Texas:

Using the Swiss Army knife is an everyday thing for me. But I remember the one memorable time when the thing that saved my life was the Swiss Army knife.

I went rock climbing with my father when I was 15 as a surprise for my birthday. The same day I received my first SAK. I was already excited to use it so I used it every chance I got throughout the day. We climbed a few easy rocks for a few hours until I begged my dad to let me go on "Devil's Chapel" which as the toughest most jagged rock known to us.

Reluctantly my dad agreed. We were a good 150 feet up when my dad's cord snapped! He quickly grabbed on an edge. I tried to zip down as fast as I could to try to attach him to my line. In my attempt to dash and get him, my cord jammed. Thank goodness the safety line was close to me or we would have both been stuck.

I quickly cut myself from my line and grabbed the safety cord. I then went down to my dad and cut him from the excess cord he had become tangled in. Without a Victorinox knife, we both would have probably perished. I carry my SAK everywhere now. It is just one of those things that has a special place in your heart.
