I'm an engineer for an aircraft fuel systems manufacturer and my everyday carry knife is a Victorinox Climber with nylon scales. The nylon is important because several of the chemicals I come into contact with on a daily basis, toluene and MEK, would dissolve the cellidor scales most commonly found on Swiss Army knives.
A typical week with my Swiss Army knife involves making electrical and mechanical connections with the screwdrivers; cutting or drilling wood, paper, cardboard, rubber, leather and plastic with the blades or awl; untangling the tiny chains on my wife's necklaces using the corkscrew; and opening tin cans with the can opener during dinner preparation, especially when my wife's fancy electrical can opener fails to do its job! Two weeks ago my stepson and I even fabricated his eighth-grade "Rube Goldberg Machine" science project using nothing but our Swiss Army knives!
