I got my first Swiss Army Knife in 1985. The store was going out of business and I got a GREAT deal on a Wenger Monarch. It is a BIG knife (7 layers and something like 15 tools). I still have my Monarch, but my favorite now is a Wenger Handyman, and my everyday carry knife is a Wenger Trailblazer.
I use the Trailblazer every day for things like opening cans of coffee at the office, grooming my nails, opening packages of textbooks, etc., but the time that sticks out in my mind is the time we were going camping in our new (to us) car, and hadn’t had time to get the permanent license plate. I used the screwdriver on the Trailblazer to remove the old expired plate so we wouldn’t get stopped by the police several times before we got to the beach!
I am passing the Swiss Army Knife legacy down to my 11 year old son now. I got him a Victorinox Cub
