Victorinox Cutlery Is On Sale Now.R.H. Forschner IS Victorinox.

Victorinox is known worldwide as the creator and manufacturer of the original Swiss Army Knife. They begin making knives in 1884 as a small cutlery workshop. Victorinox had been supplying the Swiss Army with knives for years and Europe with commericial kitchen cutlery.

In the 1930's Victorinox was approached by R.H. Forschner, based in New York, to be their sole cutlery supplier. Victorinox has made the blades for Forschner knives that you know and love since then. Forschner was originally renowned since 1855 as a maker of the knife scales (sides/handles) for butchers.

R.H. Forschner and Victorinox joined forces in 1937. For over 70 years Forschner became the United States' main kitchen cutlery brand. Now the brand is evolving and returning to its roots.

Victorinox celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2009. R.H. Forschner knives have been transitioning back to the Victorinox name. Same knife blades, still made in Switzerland. All cutlery is shifting to the Victorinox name. Victorinox is phasing out the use of the name R.H. Forschner over the next year or two.
