The Rescue Tool has been developed by Victorinox in close collaboration with rescue and safety services including firemen, policemen, paramedics and emergency service personnel. My Swiss Army Knife Story:
I was driving back from my first semester at college. The road was dark and icy and I lost control and slid down the side of the road. It was a 45 degree drop and I was about 30 feet down by the time my car came to a stop.
Thank heavens I had been wearing my seatbelt or else I might have been physically harmed. By the time the car settled, I was stuck in the debris that had flown around the car on the way down (laundry, cd's, etc). I couldn't get my seatbelt undone to climb out and I started to panic.
I didn't have a cell phone. I had to get out of that car and back up to the road to flag someone down to help me. I was confident that if I could just get back up to that road I would be ok.
After trying to pry my seatbelt free, I still had no luck. I was suddenly comforted by the thought of what was in my left pocket --- my Rescue Tool. My father always told me that I would never know when I would need it.I pulled it out and cut myself free. My doors were blocked by trees and I was able to break through the back window with the "window breaker" tool on my knife as well and succeeded in freeing myself from the car.
I flagged down a passerby at the road. They took me into town to call for help. I lost everything I owned in that accident. By the time I made it back to the car, everything was covered in ice. I lost my clothes, my music, my makeup, all the stuff a college girl would have for a trip home.
I am so grateful that I had my swiss army knife with me that day.
