Swiss Army Knife Story - Super Tinker:

I'm in a wheelchair and always carry at least one knife, usually more. I never leave without my Swiss Army Super Tinker. I live on and run a racehorse ranch where my duties include looking out for the health and safety of the horses and general security.

One morning when my wife couldn't come up with me because of a broken ankle, I went to feed the horses. One foal didn't come up with its mother. I went into the pasture to look for the foal and heard a noise way back past a dried up river bed. I got as close as I could and saw the foal had falled into the dry river bed. I had to find a way to get it.

As I was looking to find a way, the bank gave way and I fell, wheelchair and all. My pistol and cell phone were on a special scabbard I'd made that stays on my wheelchair. The problem was I couldn't reach my wheelchair. I was far from the house and trapped on the edge of a bluff in the dried up river bed. I searched my pockets immediately to see what I had that could help me. I had rope and everything I needed on my wheelchair but it was several feet down at the bottom of the river bed!

But there in my pocket as always was my Super Tinker! I was grateful because at least I had something. I looked around to see what I could possibly do, since I can't walk at all I had to do something! I saw a vine that was dried out and cut it with my swiss army knife and pulled it up. It was just long enough that I might reach my chair with it but I wasn't sure how I was going to use it.

An idea came to me. I opened both blades and tied the vine to the hook on my swiss army knife and had a makeshift grapple. I was really excited. If I didn't get my wheelchair, I was stuck! Everything else I had for tools and survival was on my chair. I pulled and the swiss army knife had a good hold on the spokes of my wheelchair. And I got it up to the bluff. Thanks to my swiss army knife, I was able to use the vine as a rope and grapple and get to the rest of my supplies.

I retrieved my cell phone and called a friend of mine. He and several other neighbors came over with a four wheeler and climbed down the side of the river bed... down farther where it wasn't so steep. They brought back the lost foal and me.

If it hadn't of been for my motto of "never leave without my swiss army knife", I would have been stuck halfway down a bluff with no way out and no one knowing where I was! Thanks to my swiss army knife, the foal and I were both safe. Now my cell phone and pistol are on my person along with my swiss army knife! I'll always be thankful that I had my knife in my pocket or this ordeal probably would have turned out with a very bad ending.
